The University of New Haven has an Early Decision and Early Action admissions policy; we begin to review applications on September 1 and continue until programs are filled. The university offers two binding and two non-binding admission programs for fall admission. To be considered for certain programs, applicants must follow the established timelines and important dates:
Early Decision applications are due by December 1
Early Action I applications are due by December 15
Early Action II applications are due by February 15
Regular Decision applications are reviewed on a rolling basis
Our priority deadline for spring applications is the first week of December
Students may apply using the Common Application. To be considered for admission, candidates must complete the application and submit it along with a non-refundable $50 application fee. In addition to the Common Application, candidates must also submit an official high school transcript and one letter of recommendation from an academic source. Submitting standardized test scores such as the SAT or ACT is optional.
The ?University does not require submission of SAT or ACT scores for admission for most academic programs and offers a "Do No Harm" policy ensuring that test scores will only be used during the application review process if they have a positive effect on a student's admissions decision or scholarship. The University of New Haven mixes traditional degrees along with many unique programs across five academic colleges and schools. A new multidisciplinary degree — B.S. in Esports and Gaming — is offered, with opportunities to specialize in concentrations such as Corruption and Gambling, Esports Performance and Health, and Game Studies. The university also offers more than 60 graduate programs and certificates, with options for a variety of dual degree programs for popular career tracks that enable students to easily transition from a bachelor's degree to a master's degree.

The College offers students an accelerated degree program making it possible to complete a three-year bachelor's degree with the option to tack on a one-year master's degree.
Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice and Forensic Sciences
The Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice and Forensic Sciences offers degrees in Criminal Justice, Fire Protection Engineering, Fire Science, Forensic Science, Homeland Security, Emergency Management, International Affairs, and Security and Defense Policies, and Intelligence Analysis. The university offers separate Criminal Justice concentrations in Investigative Services, Crime Analysis, Police Science, Correctional Rehabilitation and Supervision, Crime Victim Services, and Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. The Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice and Forensic Sciences also contains two distinct degrees in the area of Fire Science-Arson Investigation and Fire Science Administration.
School of Health Sciences
Though the university has a long-standing tradition of offering degrees preparing students for jobs in the healthcare industry, a standalone School of Health Sciences was created to better train students in this fast-growing field. The University's School of Health Sciences offers degrees in Dental Hygiene, Exercise Science, Health Sciences, Medical Laboratory Science, Nutrition Sciences, Paramedicine, and Public Health.
Tagliatela College of Engineering
The Tagliatela College of Engineering offers degrees in Chemistry, Computer Science, and Cybersecurity and Networks in addition to an array of engineering disciplines, including Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.
Accreditations and Recognitions
Many of our academic programs have earned further distinction through high-level private accrediting bodies in the respective fields:
- AACSB (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) accredits six of our undergraduate business degree programs: Accounting, Business Management, Finance, International Business, Marketing, and Sport Management.
- FEPAC (Forensic Science Education Programs Accreditation Commission) accredits our Forensic Science program.
- ABA (American Bar Association) approves our undergraduate degree in Legal Studies, one of only a few such programs at the undergraduate level in the entire country.
- ABET (Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology) accredits seven of our undergraduate academic degree programs in the Tagliatela College of Engineering: Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.
- ACEND (Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics) of the American Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics accredits our very popular undergraduate degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, leading many of our students to become Registered Dietitians (R.D.). The university also has a master's degree with integrated supervised practice designed to fulfil ACEND-required competencies.
- ACS (American Chemical Society) accredits our Chemistry program.
- ADA (American Dental Association) accredits our Dental Hygiene program.
- NASAD (National Association of Schools of Art and Design) accredits our B.F.A. programs in Graphic Design and Interior Design as well as our B.A. program in Art.
- The CAE-CO (Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Operations) stamp of approval was granted by the NSA (National Security Agency) to pathways in our Cybersecurity Networks and Computer Science with a concentration in Cybersecurity programs. Interdisciplinary study is the highlight of an education from the University of New Haven, where students take courses from across the five colleges and schools and engage in projectbased learning to build out a practical, personalized degree. The lauded criminal justice program, for instance, has "a lot of opportunities...and different pathways offered for those going into law," and "academics, especially the legal studies department, are out of this world." Because at least one component of experiential education is required for graduation, the school works to ensure that students get internships or service learning, whether that's in a booming field like cybersecurity or international business, or an upand-coming degree in Fire Science or Esports and Gaming. "Most students choose this school due to their specific major," notes one student, and another points out that New Haven "has a lot of amazing programs you cannot attend anywhere else." Several students point to the renowned Henry C. Lee Institute of Forensic Science, "a great strength in this school."
Faculty "have resumes that are incredibly proficient, in some cases to the point where they are overqualified to teach," and bring this experience to the classroom via case studies, examples, and "real world stories as well as hands-on events and exercises." Also, because "class sizes tend to stay small [we can form] better relationships with our professors." Those seeking further support outside class will find "flexible office hours for professors," a "writing center [that] helps with papers," and Centers for Academic Success and Advising. Overall, "the learning style here feels very hands-on," with burn rooms and a crime scene house that students can investigate and "unique equipment, materials, and procedures." As one student puts it, "I've taken a number of labs and field trips in my classes that have really prepared me to use equipment and methods I'll need in my field."

Undergraduate Student Government Association (USGA) oversees all aspects of undergraduate life, organizing campus social and cultural activities, supporting the student-run radio station and student-produced publications, and overseeing the budget for all undergraduate organizations. There are more than 150 campus clubs and organizations, including chapters of several professional societies, religious groups, social clubs, student councils, cultural clubs, and national fraternities and sororities.
Study Abroad
The University of New Haven opened its satellite campus in Prato, Italy (Tuscany region) in the fall of 2012. The course offerings at the Tuscany campus change from semester to semester. Students can take a total of 15 credits (five courses) during the semester, including one mandatory Italian language course. Each semester, the university sends full-time faculty to teach courses alongside Italian faculty. Students can study abroad at our Prato, Italy campus as early as the first semester of their first year. The University of New Haven is a leading provider of study abroad education, offering students more than 300 options worldwide. One such option is an intensive study abroad program that features two-week abroad sessions with a University of New Haven faculty member during intersession. Locations include London, Dubai, Rome, and other exciting areas of the world. The two-week study abroad program earns six credits.
Athletics
As a member of the Northeast 10 Conference, the University of New Haven competes in 18 Division II varsity sports (7 men's and 11women's), including baseball, basketball, cross-country, field hockey, football, lacrosse, rugby, soccer, softball, tennis, track, and volleyball. The university also has a number of club sports, which compete at the intercollegiate level, including: men's baseball, women's softball, esports (co-ed), field hockey (co-ed), golf (co-ed), gymnastics (co-ed), ice hockey (men's and women's), lacrosse (men's and women's), rugby (men's and women's), running (co-ed), soccer (co-ed), swimming, (co-ed), tennis (co-ed), ultimate frisbee (co-ed), volleyball (men's and women's), and wrestling (co-ed). Spirit organizations include both the cheerleading team and the dance team. The 58,000-square-foot David A. Beckerman Recreation Center adds another dimension to athletic opportunities at the University of New Haven. It features a fitness center with aerobic equipment, weights, and televisions; multi-purpose rooms for yoga, aerobics, Pilates, spinning, and other wellness activities; two basketball/volleyball courts; a multi-sport court for in-line skating, floor hockey, indoor soccer, and other activities; an elevated indoor running track; and lounge areas, including a juice bar/cafe.

The university has 14 on-campus and six off-campus housing options, ranging from a traditional residence hall to apartment-style housing with suites of two or more bedrooms. The university is also in the process of building a college village adjacent to campus, which will add apartments for continuing student housing and graduate students.

At New Haven you'll find "a large number of like-minded people who are motivated by the course work and offered programs." There are "people of different race, religion, and all other kinds of backgrounds" here, and "it is easy to find people you fit in with because the campus is so diverse." Students and faculty "are very protective over making sure everyone gets along and doesn't feel out of place," and people here are "very welcoming, always open to helping one another and supportive of people who want to learn more" regardless of their major, as well as "caring and considerate." Founded in 1920 on the campus of Yale University in cooperation with Northeastern University, the University of New Haven moved to its current West Haven campus in 1960. Situated on 82 acres atop a hill overlooking the New Haven skyline, with views of Long Island Sound, our residential campus is conveniently located a mile north of Interstate 95 between Boston (135 miles away) and New York City (75 miles away).

In the last decade, the University has completed more than $300 million in major capital projects, highlighted by development of our Bergami Center for Science, Technology, and Innovation, which opened in 2020. Sitting at the heart of campus, it is one of the finest learning spaces in the country, featuring the most technologically advanced collaborative classrooms, engineering and science labs, video production studios, a makerspace, and an esports training and competition space called The Stable. Other state-of-the-art campus spaces include a student residence Westside Hall, which includes Food on Demand, a technology-driven gourmet dining experience; the 57,000-square-foot David A. Beckerman Recreation Center; Celentano Hall, our largest student residence for upper-class students featuring apartment-style living; and Ralph A. DellaCamera Stadium, featuring our distinctive blue & gold turf field. Additional facilities include the Henry C. Slightly more than half of the students live on campus, enjoying the "wonderful facilities for a school of our size" and because first-years can choose their Enhanced Learning Community by interest, things like "watching movies in the lounges and playing poker, dominoes, or cards are always fun every night." The weekdays, however, are "usually packed with school time" and activities with the 150 clubs and organizations (like Greek life), many of which support the different majors, like the Forensic Science club, or which set about "taking part in public service opportunities." As for the weekends, athletics are a big part of this Division II school, and both intramurals and intercollegiate games "always can bring out a good crowd," while New Haven itself features plenty of "cool places and restaurants" to explore.
