Admissions Requirements
Third-year required clerkships are Internal Medicine (8 weeks); Surgery (8 weeks); Pediatrics (4 weeks); Ob/Gyn (6 weeks); Psychiatry (6 weeks); Family Medicine (6 weeks); and a Multidisciplinary Ambulatory Clerkship (12 weeks). Lectures in Anesthesiology, Medical Jurisprudence, Ophthalmology, and Otolaryngology are also part of the third-year curriculum. Fourth-year required clerkships are Neurology (4 weeks); Surgery (4 weeks); Emergency Medicine (4 weeks); Radiology (2 weeks); Dermatology (2 weeks); and an Acting Internship Selective (4 weeks). At least 20 weeks are reserved for elective study. Clinical training takes place primarily at UTMB hospitals and clinics. Some electives may be taken at other institutions.

Graduates

A grade of at least a C must be earned in all of the prerequisite courses. These are: English (one year); Biology (two years); Math (one semester of college-level); Physics (one year); Chemistry (one year); and Organic Chemistry (one year). All science courses must include laboratory work. The MCAT is required, and scores should be from within the past year. For applicants who have taken the exam on multiple occasions, the most recent set of scores is considered.
